Description says it all. I have a Philips tv.. I can't find the remote for it and closed captioning is now on after returning home from a week vacation when it was never on for the past 2 years.

Please provide a few additional details, model type, cable or satellite TV for specific instructions.
But if it's simply the built-in CC then your TV should have a MENU / OPTIONS / or SETTING button. Use that button and the two buttons on the right to select the option for disabling Close Caption.

I would buy a cheap Universal TV remote, and set it up for your TV. Then if you can get into the 'Menu', you can turn it off...
