How do I turn off the closed captioning on a comcast cable box?

I have Comcast Cable and have a DVR cable box. My neice pressed a button and somehow got the closed captioning on and I cannot get it to turn offHow do I turn off the closed captioning on a comcast cable box?
Here's how you get to the CC option on the cable box:


It's easier if you use the controls on the box itself but you can use the remote.





start with the tv and cable box on


-on the cable box


-push ';power';


-push ';menu';


You have to do that kind of fast, this will take you to a ';user settings'; menu, the CC is the 4th line down, just arrow down to it and push the right arrow to change it.





If this menu does not show up on your tv screen you can still change the CC. The front of your box will say ';16.9'; or ';4.3'; then arrow down until it reads ';CCEN'; (CC enabled) or ';CCDS'; (CC disabled) and then push the right arrow to change it.How do I turn off the closed captioning on a comcast cable box?
OMG! You saved us! My four yr old ';enabled'; the CC somehow and my husband and I have been trying to figure it out for over 2 weeks. Lukily the CC was not working for the HD channels. But boy! Was it anoying. Thanks so much for having an answer. We can watch TV now! Report Abuse
